About Me

Hi there! My name is Chrystal and I'm a 2nd grade Language Arts and Math teacher. I graduated college in 2013 and just a few months after graduating I married my wonderful husband, Justin. We have a beautiful son who lights up our life, and another baby boy on the way! We also have a sweet and spunky mini-poodle named Victor. I just completed my fifth year of teaching, and funny enough my husband works at the same school I do, which has really been a blessing! Most importantly, I am a Christ follower and my life would not be complete without Jesus!

Throughout college, and even after college before I started teaching, I always worked in public libraries. I started at the bottom with shelving books and worked my way up to check-out, cataloging, and lastly running my own children's programming including story times, book clubs, craft events, summer reading events, and family movie nights. I will always have a special place in my heart for libraries and books, specifically children's books.

After graduating college I starting substituting while continuing to work at the library in the evenings. Pretty soon after I was married I switched to a different library because it was a big move up in position and pay. When I made this transition I stopped subbing, but stayed in contact with area schools, specifically the school where I did my student teaching. Not even a year later, a long-term subbing position became available. I applied, interviewed and got the position. I truly feel that God orchestrated everything. Two short years later, my husband was hired on as the computer teacher. We couldn't be happier.

Here we are at Disney World. One of our all time favorite places!
I'm new to the world of teacher blogging, but have blogged on and off since high school. I love to write and teach and was growing more and more interested in teacher blogs. You could say I'm slightly addicted to them. I love finding new ideas to incorporate in my classroom. After reading some of my favorite blogger's posts I feel so inspired to teach better. I feel like God is placing this desire on my heart to help inspire other teachers, just like I was. So hang in there with me on this new journey. I'm learning more and more each and everyday and am so happy that you have found your way to this blog.
